Three systems
Listening systems
1984 Klipsch La Scala System
My main listening system is built around a pair of 1984 Klipsch
La Scalas with their original K-33-E woofers, K-55-M compression
drivers, K-400 midrange horns and K-77-M tweeters, updated with
Crites Type AL-3 crossovers. A Sony CD transport and
Debian-based HTPC feed an SMSL SU-1 DAC, Marantz AV600
preamplifier and compact TPA3116 power amplifier. The fully
horn-loaded speakers combine exceptional efficiency and dynamic
range with the speed, separation and low-volume clarity that
make this my reference system for serious listening.

Scala system is coming soon.
Klipsch The Sevens Desk System
My desk system uses Klipsch The Sevens powered speakers
connected directly to my computer over USB, with a sealed
Cambridge SoundWorks BassCube 10S subwoofer handling the lowest
frequencies. The computer runs either Linux with PipeWire or
Windows with VoiceMeeter, depending on what I am doing.
Positioned for nearfield listening, the system provides precise
stereo imaging, strong bass extension and enough output for
music, games and production work while remaining far more
compact and self-contained than the main La Scala system.

system is coming soon.
2021 Subaru Crosstrek Audio System
The audio system in my 2021 Subaru Crosstrek retains the factory
head unit but replaces the front speakers, amplification,
processing and wiring. Kenwood Excelon 3.5-inch dash speakers
and Audiofrog GS60 door speakers are run actively from a Kicker
KEY200.4 amplifier, which provides DSP crossover control,
equalization and time alignment. A sealed 12-inch Rockford
Fosgate Punch subwoofer covers the lowest frequencies. The
result is a clear, driver-focused front soundstage with
substantial midbass and deep, controlled bass without
sacrificing the factory controls and everyday usability.

Crosstrek is coming soon.
